How did Man’s dream of flight come true?
Man has always dreamt of being able to fly like a bird, and many attempts were made to fly using artificial wings- but all of them failed. Hot air balloons, invented in the 18th century, did make it possible for Man to soar up into the clouds, but left them totally at the mercy of winds.

Gliders came next. But it was the invention of the four stroke engine that made it possible for an aircraft to fly on its own power, and not just in the direction of the wind. It was the Wright Brothers who finally made Man’s dream of flight come true.
The Wright Brothers were the first to make a successful human flight with a craft that that was powered by an engine, and was heavier than air, on the December 17th, 1903.
